Materials:

  • Bookmark and face template
  • Green cardstock
  • Cardstock for elf’s face
  • 4 x 5/8 inch strip of yellow cardstock
  • 5/8 inch circle of red cardstock for elf’s nose
  • 2 adhesive googly eyes
  • Pom-pom
  • Craft glue
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Printer and paper

Step 1
Print the template for the bookmark and face on an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper, and cut out the pieces along the solid lines.

Step 2
Trace the bookmark template onto the green cardstock. Trace the face template onto the cardstock you have chosen for the elf’s face. Cut out both pieces of cardstock along the traced lines.

Step 3
Fold the green cardstock as marked on the template.

Step 4
Using the craft glue, adhere the face piece onto the centre of the green piece of cardstock.

Step 5
Using the craft glue, glue the left side of the green piece of cardstock. Overlap the left side of the bookmark with the right side of the bookmark to create the elf’s hat.

Step 6
Using the craft glue, glue the yellow strip of cardstock to the middle of the hat and trim the edges so they are flush with the edge of the green hat.

Step 7
Glue the nose on the elf’s face. Peel off the back of the adhesive googly eyes and adhere them to the elf’s face. Using the glue gun, glue the pom-pom to the top of the hat. You are now ready to read!

You can make many different characters with this template. The Santa was made using a red bookmark base and pom-poms for the trim on his hat and his beard.
