The inking technique used is a little messy, so make sure to cover your work surface.
Cut a piece of cling wrap larger than the piece of white cardstock and lay it flat on your work surface. Load the brayer with ink from your ink pad. When loading the brayer, always roll it in the same direction to prevent the ink colours from bleeding too much and becoming murky.
Once the brayer is loaded with ink, roll the brayer across the surface of the cling wrap. Again, always roll in the same direction. Make sure to cover an area of the cling wrap that is at least the same size as the 3 7/8 inch by 5 1/8 inch piece of white cardstock.
Lay the 3 7/8 inch by 5 1/8 inch piece of white cardstock on top of the inked area of the cling wrap. Flip the cling wrap and the cardstock over. Use your hand to press the cling wrap down. Move the cling wrap around to create patterns with the ink. Remove the cling wrap from the cardstock, and set the cardstock to the side to dry.
If you are using the Cricut with the Go Canada cartridge, follow the cartridge instructions to cut out two 1.5 inch tall figure skates from scraps of white, grey and black cardstock. Make sure that you create both a left and a right skate. When your skates are assembled, use the white string and a needle to “lace” up your skates. Make sure to leave at least 4 inches of string at the top of your skates.
Fold the navy cardstock in half to create a card base that is 4.25 inches by 5.5 inches. Glue the silver glitter cardstock to the front of your card, leaving a navy boarder around the perimeter of the card. Now glue the inked piece of white cardstock on top of the silver glitter cardstock, leaving a boarder around the perimeter of the white cardstock.
Position your skates on the right side of the card with the “laces” reaching the top of the card. Glue down the skates. Use the glue gun to secure the “laces” to the top of the card and trim any excess string. Make a bow with the ribbon and place at the top of the card to cover the ends of the skate “laces”. Glue pom-poms to the toes of the skates and add the snowflake embellishments.
Try different ink colours to create a variety of backgrounds for your cards!
